NEWS

12/12/07 Mudvayne new release; Phil Demmel statement.

From Blabbermouth.net
Phil Demmel of Machinehead collapsed during his performance in Milan last week, a mere 30 minutes after his father passed away. At that time, Phil was unaware that anything had happened to his father. Phil decided to quit the remainder of the tour to be with family, and passed his duties onto the other drummers willing to take over. He has released a statement thanking the fans for all their messages. The full statement can be read here.

Mudvayne's fan chosen and fan created b-sides and rarities album, By The People For The People, was released this week, featuring 16 tracks including a new song "Dull Boy" and a cover of "King Of Pain" originally by The Police.

Mudvayne are also planning their next album for mid 2008. Chad Gray and Greg Tribett are currently touring as a main part of ex-Pantera Vinnie Paul's new band Hellyeah.

11/12/07 Down on Tour; Velvet Revolver on Tour in UK and reschedule Aussie dates; Corey Taylor produces Walls of Jerico E.P.; Stuck Mojo switch labels; Led Zep rumours; Foo Fighters Grammy Nominations.

Down have announced new tour dates, beginnning January 19th in the U.S. A new website - Woozyfly.com - conducted a videointerview with Jimmy Bower and Kirk Windstein from the band. See it here.

Velvet Revolver have announced new UK tour dates, beginning March 12th. Australian dates have also been rescheduled for February 15th-20th, after the recent tour was cancelled due to 'ill health'. The Japanese tour has yet to be finalised. In other news, Scott Weiland is to face Drugs charges in court tomorrow. Supposedly Driving under the Influence, Weiland has denied all charges.

Corey Taylor has just finished work with Walls of Jerico on their new EP to be released on Trustkill Records next March. Taylor features on and Produced the EP.

Stuck Mojo have signed with Naplam records with the album Southern Born Killers being re-released on February 29th (March 4th - U.S). The band courted controversy earlier this year with their Anti-Jihad track 'Open Season'. Claimed to be racist (though obviously not) the video was banned from several play lists. Keeping to a similar theme, the band have released the video for the latest track 'I'm American'. Again, though not racist, the video and it's Pro-American stance have offended some watchers.

The band will begin a European tour in February.

NME.com claim Led Zeppelin are rumoured to be planning a three-night stint at New Yorks Madison Square Gardens in 2008. Wath this space!

From artisannews.com
The Foo Fighters picked up multiple Grammy nominations recently. The Grammy Awards will be held February 10 in Los Angeles and will air on CBS-TV. A complete list of Grammy Nominees can be found at grammy.org. The Foo Fighters song "The Pretender" is up for Record Of The Year, Best Rock Song and Best Hard Rock Performance . The Foos album "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" is up for Album Of The Year and Best Rock Album.

The Foo Fighters will start their 2008 Tour in support for 'Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace' on Jan 16th in Sunrise, Florida and they have dates booked in The U.S., Canada and Australia through May of 2008. Fans of Taylor Hawkins can also find his drumming skills on Coheed and Cambria's latest album 'No World for Tomorrow.'

04/12/07 Jerry Cantrell discusses new Alice album; Acey Slade joins Wednseday 13; Deep Purple want your memories; Drowning Pool get mad; and Hookers 'n' Blow

Jerry Cantrell in a recent interview with MTV.com suggested that there may be a new Alice in Chains album out before the end of 2008. This comes as the band parts ways with its managment company.

Jerry continued, "The body of stuff that's been coming out so far — all the riffs and song ideas — are really cool. It's really aggressive and everything 'Alice' was, but it's moved on into a different thing too. It's indicative of the transformation of this band. The elements that remain and the element that William DuVall, (new singer) brings to the band are powerful things. I couldn't put a time on it, but I can tell you that writing songs is what we are working toward. We're gathering material and doing other business to help this band move forward."

Acey Slade (Ex-Murderdolls/Trashlight Vision) is continuing in his role as guitarist with Wednesday 13 on the upcoming All American Massacre Tour, due to begin in January.
W13 commented "Once I realized I couldn't play guitar with my broken collar bone just before the October tour began I knew I really had to push the visual aspect of the show. I really went out of my way to try and bring the songs to life in a more visual way. It was fun to get inside these songs and act them out. The audiences all seemed to enjoy it as well and I was having a blast with it. I decided by the end of the tours that this is what I wanted to do by continuing making the live shows more theatrical and the only way to really do that was to remain a five-piece. The new ideas I have for the new years stage show are all over the place and I'm really excited for the new tour, and the fans to see it."

W13's Weirdo-a-go-go video release date is set for February 5th, with the new album 'Skeletons' due for a March/April release.

Drowning Pool got fired-up over a recent stement from a Fox News commentator, Bill O Reilly, over the support for the USO.

A member of the band wrote... "I have chewed on this whole Bill O'Reilly-blasting-the-USO subject for some time now trying to decide what aspect of this jackass's empty rants I wanted to shoot holes in first," an unidentified member of DROWNING POOL writes on the band's MySpace page. "What I have finally realized is that it's pointless to even start on this and point out every single shithead aspect of this self-promoting, self-righteous poster child for birth control.

He blasts the USO. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? The only reason this shithead even went over was to promote his new book. If you have the time, go to YouTube and search 'Keith Olberman USO Bill O'Reilly' and hear the facts. Please do.

I'm not even going on any more with this. The fact is O'Reilly thinks he is above the truth and you can't argue with that kind of a person. Here is a group like the USO that for years upon years have given of themselves to do good by others that put themselves in harms way in the name of OUR country and this shithead decides he can just say what he wants and stack lie upon lie and attack anyone he wishes.

So to Billdoe and his mindless sheep of an audience, go fuck yourself. You are a true waste of air...

To wrap this up, I would like to say one last thing. You're such a true patriot, Bill, aren't you? So supportive of our troops, aye? That must be why you ignored the ThisIsForTheSoldiers.org mission when your people were contacted on the matter.

"Wait, I'm sorry — this is about headlines NOW, isn't it?! Yeah, I forgot about the whole NEW BOOK to promote angle.

Sad, sad man you are."

In response to the comments of Bill O'Reilly, the band have made a video message...

Former Warrant singer Jani Lane will join the guys in Hookers 'n' Blow — featuring members of L.A.Guns, Guns n' Roses, White Lion and RATT — at the Rock City News pre-awards show party on December 5 at Howl At The Moon at Universal CityWalk in Universal City, California. Also scheduled to appear is Rikki Rockett from Poison, who is sponsoring the evening with his drum company Rockett Drum Works. Rockett Drums is supplying a kit for the L.A.-based Howl At The Moon and is in negotiations at outfitting the entire chain.

Howl At The Moon, a dueling piano bar with a few backing bands, is located inside of Universal CityWalk in Hollywood, CA. Parking is free after 10 p.m. There are $1.00 beers and the cover is only $5.00 when you use the password "Rockett."

30/11/07 Guitar Hero III - Slash interview whilst Johnny Rotten throws rattle out of pram - again; Aerosmith Drummer to take part in online chat today; Rammstein soloist; MM goes visiting...

From Blabbermouth.net
Ryan King
of OXM.co.uk reports: Johnny Rotten's now infamous ranting at Guitar Hero III's launch party in London earlier in the month was captured on OXM.co.uk's cameras and has now been uploaded on OXM.co.uk for all to see. Entertainment and fun for all the family!

After introducing himself by saying "[censored], it's rubbish, I hate the whole thing," the Sex Pistols singer then goes into the reason why he's there — to promote Guitar Hero III.

"I'll give it to you basic and honest," he says. "The offer came in and I took it home and I played it with a bunch of kids. What I like is it weren't teaching you how to be a rock star, it was teaching you how not to be a rock star..."

And that was the last thing said on the game, after explaining how the Sex pistols re-recorded tracks ("Anarchy In The UK" and "Pretty Vacant"). For what followed was half-an-hour ranting about Tony Blair, screaming "I AM ENGLAND" and throwing microphone at journalists who he thought were "smug."

Watch the video footage at this location.

Guitar Hero III features former Guns N' Roses and current Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash on its packaging and promo materials. The legendary guitarist was asked about contributing his likeness to the game.

"I think it's a huge honor to be a part of this game. It's like I actually represent electric guitar to a legion of kids that are into this game, which has got to be the most popular game out right now -- and I've been asked to put my brand on it, which is very, very cool."

You can see the full video interview here Artisan News SLASH Interview

Meanwhile Slash's self-titled book of memoirs was the Number Two selling book upon its release. The book chronicles his substance abuse problems more than his music and is available at book stores everywhere.

In other Slash News, Velvet Revolver are rescheduling their upcoming Australian tour. The bands spokesperson cited "health issues", though what these are exactly remains a mystery. Slash conducted interviews with Australian media on Thursday (November 29) and was excited about the band returning to Australia to perform.

The promoter is expected to release details about the rescheduling of the tour (due for january-march) and refund of tickets today.

AEROSMITH drummer Joey Kramer, recently named honorary chairman of the Boston Music Awards, will take part in an online chat at 12:00 p.m. (noon) EST today on Boston.com, about his involvement with the 2007 BMA's (click here). You can also listen to a podcast recorded 14/11/07 on WZLX 100.7 FM here.

Widely renowned as one of rock's greatest drummers, JK embraced the chance to connect with the BMAs and its incredible lineup of diverse acts.

Marilyn Manson and girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood were videotaped visiting Cabaret Voltaire at Spiegelgasse No.1 in Zürich, Switzerland, the birthplace of Dada, the cultural movement that began during World War I and peaked from 1916 to 1920. Manson briefly spoke with Rebel.tv about the experience. Watch the clip here.

Rammstein guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe's new album, the self-titled debut album from his EMIGRATE project, recently spoke to MTV.com about the trials and tribulations of Rammstein and living in America. The album will receive a North American release on January 28.

29/11/07 The Richie Madden Foundation; Manson for Guinness Book of Records; NIN Remix Site...

Richie Madden with girlfriend Nicole Richie, has set up a charity foundation to provide assistance in the form of equipment and clothing to expectant mothers in need. The program is only due to run, initially, for six months in the Los Angeles area, though if a success it may be expanded. This comes as Nicole Richie celebrates a lavish baby shower this sunday. Anyone interested in donating or contacting the charity may be able to do so through www.iphilanthropy.com.

Manson is in the news for a second day. According to Kerrang.com, MM has supposedly suggested a stint in a bath with a bunch of snakes - all in an effort to get in the Guinness Book of Records. As much as we think this is unlikely here at HP, we will endeavour to keep you updated should MM decide to give Indiana Jones a run for his money!

From Blabbermouth.net
According to The Pulse of Radio, the Nine inch Nails remix site, Remix.NIN.com, has finally gone live after being blocked for several days by Universal Music, parent company of NIN's former label, Interscope Records. Universal did not want fans using master recordings of other artists in remixes of NIN songs. Frontman Trent Reznor said online, "Universal feels that if they host our remix site, they will be opening themselves up to the accusation that they are sponsoring the same technical violation of copyright they are suing (YouTube and MySpace) for."

Universal was willing to let NIN itself take over the remix site, on the condition that Reznor take legal responsibility for any copyright issues regarding other artists' samples.

NIN issued a remix CD of its "Year Zero" album last week, titled "Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D". The album is available as a digital download, a triple-vinyl set and a CD/DVD-ROM.

In other news, NIN touring guitarist Aaron North has formed a new band called JUBILEE. The group also features QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE bassist Michael Shuman and members of other Los Angeles acts. A CD and digital single called "Rebel Hiss" will be issued on January 21.

28/11/07  Flea loses home in Malibu fires, Chad Kroeger charged with Drink Driving, Pete Wentz 'sex tapes' online, Casey Calvert found dead, Manson sued over 'Sick Purchases'...

Flea, bassist for super-band Red Hot Chili Peppers, lost his home and possessions in Malibu during this weekends continuing wildfires. The property was estimated to be worth $4.8 million.

Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert passed away this past Friday (November 23), aged just 26, following the bands show in Detroit, Michigan.  The cause of death is still under investigation, though it would seem Casey had an allergic reaction to the combination of sleeping pills and anti-depressant medication he was taking.

Below is a statement from the band's website :

“Today is probably the worst day ever. Its with our deepest regrets that we have to write this. Casey Calvert passed away in his sleep last night. We found out this afternoon before sound-check. We've spent the entire day trying to come to grips with this and figure out as much as possible. At this time we're not sure what exactly happened. Just last night he was joking around with everyone before he went to bed. We can say with absolute certainty that he was not doing anything illegal. Please, out of respect to Casey and his family, don't contribute or succumb to any gossip you may hear. We don't want his memory to be tainted in the least. Casey was our best friend. He was quirky and awesome and there will truly be no others like him! His loss is unexplainable. As soon as we know more we will let you know.”

A 29 second video clip from the gore movie Goodnight Moon (2005) has of course found its way onto the Youtube website. It shows Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz having sex.  It's nothing spectacular - quite boring in fact.  We had to check it for content - obviously!  Our readers are known for their good taste ;-) and so if you want to see it, go find it yourselves.  Depraved perves!

Chad Kroeger of Nickleback was pulled over for speeding last year. The police claimed the singer was over the legal limit for alcohol and confiscated his $170,000 Lamborghini. Kroeger has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Marilyn Manson is sued again by ex-band member Madonna Wayne Gacey (Stephen Bier).  He claims Manson spent royalties owing him on African masks made of human skin, a full skeleton of a 4-year-old Chinese girl that Manson is said to have turned into a chandelier and another skeleton of a man in a wheelchair. All of which are illegal in the US.  Manson is alleged to have also purchased swastika wall tiles and matching rugs, as well as arranging for his girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood, to star in the Heart Shaped Glasses video for the "highest salary ever paid to any actress in any music video in history."

When Bier demanded his share of the royalties, Manson supposedly "devised a campaign to drive him out of the band and rob him of his entitlement." Manson has obviously denied the charges.

"The fact that he's claiming that I've treated him unfairly, financially, is really ridiculous," Manson told MTV. "And I would never spend my money on a Chinese girl skeleton. That would be crossing the line. It's a Chinese boy, for the record.

"It just seems like another ex-bandmember suing me and trying to assassinate my personality as a means to financial gain, and it just seems old. It's just not fair. If I spent my money on anything, it was my family, and paying his salary for a year when we weren't even touring."

The case continues.

In other Manson news, MM launched an attack on My Chemical Romance.  In an interview with The London Paper he said, “I’m embarrassed to be me because these people are doing a really sad, pitiful, shallow version of what I’ve done.”

Manson revealed that his new album Eat Me, Drink Me features a song all about the My Chemical Romance boys bluntly entitled Mutilation is the Most Sincere Form of Flattery.   Manson challenged MCR demanding: "If they want to identify with me then here's a razor blade. Call me when you're done and we'll talk."
